Todd Cordell: New Jersey Devils player profile: Damon Severson

At 25 years old Severson is just hitting his prime years. Plus he's on a great contract for three more years (@ $4.167M). No way I'd move him unless the return was crazy.

Yes, the defensive side of his game isn't outstanding but nobody playing D looks good for NJ. I'm hoping the next coach and defensive system help him out a bit.

I have liked Severson since his junior days and hope he remains with the team for a long time. Its just the eye test, but to me he gets better every year. Hopefully that continues next year and he is paired with a capable line-mate.

Yeah agreed

I was pretty much on the periphery this season with my son only being 6 months old when the season started. So it actually works out in my favor because I maybe say 8-9 periods of play.
